How To Reduce Dark Circles Under Your Eyes And Look Younger Too!
We’ve all experienced it in one form or another. Either from a late night movie marathon, a book we couldn’t put down, or a party that had totally too much alcohol and went on far too long. The end result of these experiences is the inevitable enormous black suitcases that attach themselves to our eyes. We all know that eye bags and grey circles are to looking good as etch & sketch is to art, but there are both natural and cosmetic things we are able to do to minimize the seriousness of this common “eye-sore”.
Straight off, let’s find out why black circles and puffed up eyes occur. The condition can be caused by many common factors, here are but a few:
- Dehydration – when dehydrated you begin storing water, which can on occasion be perceivable by puffy dull circles near the eyes.
- Diet issues – a lot of alcohol or salty foods before sleeping could cause those evil eye bags.
- Allergies – pollen and dust may cause puffy eyes and create dark-coloured circles.
- High blood pressure – this pushes liquids into the tissues around the eyes.
- Diseases – thyroid or kidney issues can have a lasting effect on darkened circles and distended areas round the eyes.
- Heredity – If your ma and pa were famous for having darkened circles, you are probably going to have the same issues.
There are one or two “sans cosmetics” techniques to get rid of unpleasant eye bags and make you look fresh, even considering all of the above issues:
- Frozen Green Tea Bags – green tea has some caffeine and other anti inflammatory properties that help to recharge your eyes. Boil the bags to release the anti-inflammatory properties of the green tea. Freeze them immediately after boiling for 45 minutes or so. Wrap the tea bags in some paper hand towel or light cotton to avoid fridge burns on the fragile eye skin. At this point it is a simple case of putting the tea bags on your eyes for 15 to twenty minutes. This should reduce inflamed eyes and dark-coloured circles, and leave you looking refreshed.
- Thin Potato or Apple Slices – place the thin slices over the eyes for ten to fifteen minutes. Potatoes will help grey circles and apples contain Pectin, which aids in anti-oxidation.
- Drink plenty of water – this will keep your body hydrated throughout the day and lessen the scale of dull circles and puffy areas round the eyes.
- Peptide-rich products – peptides are known to reduce and occasionally erase dark circles. You will find peptides in many beauty products available in the cosmetics store.
Now if you are in a panic, late for a meeting, or scheduled to have a sit down with the Pope over tea and cookies, sometimes boiling tea bags just isn’t in the cards. In life, timing doesn’t always follow our best laid plans. In which case, the only solution that can at least disguise the fact that you’ve been burning the midnight oil are cosmetics products. Make up is not just a female solution, it is for blokes too. If it’s done right , no one will ever notice you have used it.
There are a few tips you need to use to hide the offending darkness. Women are certainly aware of these tricks I’m sure but for the men, effectively covering up grey circles in an emergency is certainly a worth-while lesson.
Firstly,, you need the equipment:
- a secure knowledge of your masculinity
- a genuine desire to NOT seem like a half sucked orange on a vital day
- powder foundation
- liquid lift/concealer
- some talcum powder
- one box of tissues
*Fellas, with a lack of direct access to your fiance/Mom/sister to help, pick cosmetics in shades as close to your skin tone as possible. Also, remember to have it all on hand, in the event of any emergency press conferences or visiting dignitaries.
Now for the process (this takes about 5 minutes once you’ve mastered it) :
- You will need a powder foundation close to your own skin tone. Spread that uniformly over your face with a clean blotter, being cautious not to use too much. You are trying to get an even skin tone over the entire face without looking like a circus clown from hell. If you think you may have used too much, just dab your face with a tissue till it’s more natural. Don’t forget to dab, don’t wipe. Practice will make this easy.
- Next, take the concealer and dot under under the eyes where it’s the most black and frightening (only a tiny amount is needed here, 2 to 4 dots under each eye will do)
- Softly dab the concealer with your ring finger until it begins to mix in and look natural. Don’t go at it too hard and please don’t wipe at all or you will wipe away your efforts. Simply press it in softly until the under eye area looks more blended.
- Once you’ve made the foundation and concealer look natural enough, with a fresh and clean make up sponge, dab a bit of talcum powder over the entire face and blend it in to erase any sign that make up was there in the 1st place. The powder is the “James Bond, Stealth, Secret Weapon” of make-up. This process will set the make up and stop the creases and lines that concealers can intensify.
Voila, in around 5 minutes you can seem like you have slept 10 hours a night for the last 5 years, and that you’ve ingested nothing but broccoli, apples, grilled chicken and Perrier since you were five years in age.
The make-up will likely be a last resort for the gentlemen, and that is OK, since it would be regarded as only a last ditch effort in case of an emergency. Having said that, try all of the other techniques if you begin to look knackered and your eyes begin to form darkish circles. You could be shocked at how well the natural treatments can work. It definitely beats surgery!
